37th Annual Tournament

The annual School Tournament for Charity was held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at LC Bird High School in Chesterfield. We hold the tournament annually to help raise money to support the Children's Hospital. The true spirit of the martial arts is the willingness to help others as well as yourself. Thanks to everyone who participated, we raised $24,200 this year and have raised over $220,000 the past tweleve years!

A message from Grand Master Dong regarding the Tournament:

Thank you for helping to celebrate our 37th year in the USA by participating in our annual Children's Hospital fund raising tournament. We are very proud of our students, their parents, families, friends and community for supporting this very worthy cause. I believe this gives the community the opportunity to experience the True Martial Arts Spirit.

The pinnacle goal of progressive Martial Arts is the achievement of true selflessness. Only by willingly giving of our time and talents can we improve ourselves and our community. This is but one example of the True Martial Arts Spirit. I believe that progressive Martial Artists must practice this spirit in everything they do, wherever they may be.

Those who helped make this year's annual tournament a success have my deepest appreciation. My thanks go out to those who supported the fund raising by purchasing advertising or tickets. Special thanks to those who volunteered their time and talents by producing this year's program. Special thanks also to the judges, participants, and parents who helped to make this a successful event. I hope this selfless spirit can be carried by our younger students to the next generation. Together we can promote a more peaceful society through progressive Martial Arts.

Testimonial Letters

To: Dong's Karate School,

As I advance from Black Tip to Bo Dan, I look at what I have gained from Dong's School.  My initial interest in Dong's was as an activity that my son Cullen and I could share and enjoy together. However, this initial interest has grown into better mental and physical health for myself as well as it has given me a greater sense of purpose and accomplishment from what I have learned from Grand Master Dong, the instructors and from being able to assist others as a teaching assistant in the classes.

Grand Master Dong's School has provided me definite goals (e.g. stress reduction, improved endurance, belt advancement, etc.) and has helped me in achieving these goals. It has also allowed me to meet new people and develop friendships where we work to achieve the same goal of bettering ourselves and helping others.

Sincerely,

Darrell Purcell

To: Dong's School,

Participating in Tae Kwon Do for the past 11 years has allowed me to build my level of discipline, and permitted me to become stronger physically every.  As I have grown up, Tae Kwon Do has built my  respect for others and has also allowed me to make some great friends along the way. These amazing people have supported me not only in Tae Kwon Do, but in all of my endeavors. My instructors and other members of my class have supported me academically, and in other things. So far it has been a great experience and has brought me to a new level of discipline in life; I look forward to consistently moving forward in everything I try because of the foundation I have in Tae Kwon Do. By succeeding in Tae Kwon Do at Dong's, I have done better in school, at home and in many others aspects in my life. My grades have improved, and my overall health has improved as well.
